In the seventeenth and eighteenth century it is known to have staged a number of race meetings on Irthlingborough Meadow, notably on Thursday 29th August 1672 when a Silver Cup was contested and won by a horse owned by Mr Washbourne. Meetings continued infrequently for almost 40 years with the final recorded meeting taking place on Thursday 31st August 1710 when the Irthlingborough Plate was won by a horse by Rane from a French horse called Courser.
